Delacroix’s Foreign bodies extract the Barbary Lions from their aggressive postures in Delacroix‘s original paintings. Here, the creatures are hosts for sleeping bodies. Employing concepts of stillness and sleep, we discover a tenderness Delacroix was unwilling to contemplate.
